Chapter 1

“Oh my Gosh, I’m so happy honey!” Emma squealed excitedly hugging me on the front porch before getting into our new house. She was a beautiful brunette with an Italian background. We’d been married for five years when we finally took the plunge and decided to ask for a mortgage loan to buy the house of our dream.

“Finally!” I said before officially stepping inside as householders.

She immediately took her shoes off and glared at me playfully. “Take them off, honey!”

I chuckled kicking my shoes off in the hallway. “I love you!” I said enthusiastically.

She giggled turning back. “I love you too Justin.”

That was one of the happiest moment of my life. I was married to the sweetest and most beautiful girl in the world, and we had just managed to buy our own house. I couldn’t have asked for more. I wanted to build a family and grow our kids there. How could I’ve imagined the guys that had been my nightmare in middle school were my neighbors?

It was the first Sunday we’d spent in our new house. I woke up early, all excited to wash my car in the driveway, in front of my garage. The sky was blue and the temperature was perfect. I sighed proudly and started to use the sponge riddle with soap on the metal hood, when someone groaned from the street, “Hey!” I turned and my heart skipped a beat. Marvin, a guy the bullied me when I was a kid stood grinning at me. He was a grown man now. Tall and muscular, with very short hair and deep piercing eyes.

I stared at him unable to say anything. “Fuck, you are Justin, aren’t ya?”

“Um, yeah, I am,” I stammered. Then I pretended I didn’t remember him. “You know me?”

He chuckled. “Fuck yeah. I’m Marvin! You should remember me damn well. We stole your candies for years!” he said laughing.

I scratched my head awkwardly. “Oh, my… Yeah, well. Is it you?” I said trying to let out a smile, pretending to be cool with it.

He walked forward and patted my shoulder causing me to almost lose my balance. “Whatup man? What are ya doin’ here!”

“Um, I just moved here,” I muttered.

“Serious? That’s cool! We can hang out sometimes and have a few beers, how’s that sound?” He said patting my shoulder again.

‘Oh my God, don’t tell me he lives in the area!’ “Oh, well, um.. why, you live in the neighborhood?” I asked feeling my heart racing.

He chuckled and turned pointing his thick finger on the house next door. “I live right there buddy!” He growled letting out a wide smile. “Hey guess who lives with me?”

My legs weakened. I couldn’t believe my luck. “Who?” I timidly asked.

He snortled. “Remember Oliver? The guy I was hanging out the most with?”

My pulse increased. Of course, I remembered him, he was the guy that backed him up all the time. They were always together and they bullied me several times, waiting for me around the corner behind the school.
